SUNAINA’S POV
“Come on, sit down and have breakfast now,” she said — and that’s when I caught sight of her brother- Adhvait Mehra, sitting quietly there too.
“Oh, aap kab aaye?" I asked, sitting on my usual seat, which was apparently in front of Bhaiya. He was sitting to my left, and Bhabhi was seated in front of him, to my brother's right.
"hello to you too and to answer your question mai apse pehle yaha maujood tha bas aap thoda sa busy thi snitching krne mei so you didn't notice my presence." he said, sipping his coffee—I presume.
(Hello to you too. And to answer your question, I was here from the start, but you were too busy snitching to notice me.)
“O Mr, I wasn’t snitching, okay?" I said, shooting him a glare.
"Well, you were," he said, winking at me.
HE. WINKED. AT. ME.
"Yo... you... ho... how could you?" I stuttered, caught between disbelief and what felt like anger—or maybe that's what I thought, though my cheeks heating up betrayed something else entirely. He just shrugged.
"Asshole," I muttered under my breath, grabbing a piece of toast and spreading a brown paste over it. That's Nutella I guess.
"DON’T EAT IT!"
Two voices shouted at once, startling me so badly that the toast slipped right out of my hands.
“Are you mad? You idiot, it was peanut butter! Do you even realize what you were about to do?" he scolded, snatching the toast from me and scooping some poha onto my plate instead
I just sat there, eyes wide and too stunned to speak. Meanwhile, Bhaiyu was smirking like he was watching his favourite comedy show, Bhabhi? She was smiling like she got her favourite candy.
What on earth was wrong with everyone?
"Here. Have this now," he said, handing me another toast—this time with plain butter and a sprinkle of salt, just how I liked it.
"What? Eat it, will you?" he repeated.
"Uh... ye... yeah, thank you," I said, clearing my throat.
"Shove that smirk up your ass, Avinash, unless you want me to punch that horrible face," he snapped at Bhaiya, raising an eyebrow. Bhaiya just smirked wider.
"Stop it, Avi," Bhabhi said to Bhaiyu, shooting him a look, which he clearly understood. He just nodded and quietly went back to his breakfast.
“Sunu, your masala chai is here, beta," our cook aunty said warmly, handing me a cup of steaming hot chai.
Nothing's better than a cup of chai.
“Thank you, aunty," I said, grinning widely. She smiled back, and walked away.
"Careful, it's hot," he murmured near my ear, making me jump and instantly choke on my food.
"Clumsy," he sighed, offering me a glass of water from right in front of me.
"A.-are... y-you... m-mad?" I managed to say between coughs, gulping water in quick sips.
"Huh?" he asked, clearly confused. I simply reached out, took the glass from his hand, and placed it firmly in front of me.
"Oh. You okay now?" he asked, his tone soft as always.
"Yep. Thank you," I said, taking a slow sip of chai. The warmth hit instantly, soothing me from the inside out.
"Oh, I forgot to mention—I'm going office hunting today," I said, taking another sip.
No, you are not," Bhaiya declared. I frowned.
"And why so, dear brother?" I asked, crossing my arms.
"Because I said so, dear sister," he replied, mimicking my tone. I narrowed my eyes at him and scoffed.
"And who said I was asking for your permission? Are you perhaps still not fully awake?" I said, raising both my eyebrows. The other two chuckled. I wish I could raise just one—but alas, some talents just aren’t meant for me.
"Yo... you... little... piece of—" he began.
"Art. I know that. Tell me something new," I said, flipping my hair as laughter erupted around the dining table. Bhaiya’s expression was priceless.
"Okay, but seriously—Bhaiyu, I need an office. Since I’m shifting my head office here, I need a proper workspace for myself and my team. Aapke chhote se dimaag mein ye baat ghus gayi, ya aur bolu?" I said calmly.
"Sunu, my dear sister, do you take me for an idiot or what?" he asked, throwing a nasty side eye at me.
"Well, I do—but that’s a topic for another day. Now tell me, what’s the context of this sudden self-awareness?" I said, and I could see that bhabhi was struggling to hold back her laughter—except for the idiot next to me, who burst out laughing.
"STOP LAUGHING, YOU ASS!" Bhaiya shouted, throwing a spoon at him.
"You guys are wasting my time—the brokers have been calling me again and again," I said, glancing at my phone, which showed over 10 missed calls.
“Cancel them. I’ll show you your workspace," Bhaiya said casually.
“Will you, for once, use your useless mouth to actually say something clearly?" I snapped.
"I’ll explain," he said before Bhaiyu could. "So... Here's the thing—me, Avinash, and Devesh want to start a law firm partnership—with you. That is, if you’re in.”
I blinked, still processing, and slowly nodded.
"Wait... so you guys want to partner with me in my firm?" I asked, unsure if I’d heard it right.
“Sort of. And in return, the three of us will invest in your firm," he said, and I gave a slight nod.
"Alright. Send your proposal to me formally.I’ll give it a thought," I replied.
“And just so we're clear—you three won’t be getting more than a combined 15% shareholding in my firm. So discuss it, make a decision, and coordinate with my assistant," I added, picking up my phone again.
"What? But we can just talk it through now," Bhaiyu protested.
"Just because we’re personally related doesn’t mean you’ll get any special treatment. I don’t know you as professional lawyers—and neither does my firm," I said, my tone firm. "Let me know when you’re ready. I need to inspect the workspace today,"
The other two men? Well, they were still in a complete daze.
"What’s wrong with them?" I asked Bhabhi.
"They’ve never seen your professional avatar before. They're in shock seeing our baby Sunu turning into a full-on boss bitch," Bhabhi said, giggling. I laughed too, unable to stop myself.
"OO HELLO, SHUUUU SHUUUU, HUI HUI HUI!" I shooed them dramatically, and they finally snapped back to reality, blinking at me like I’d just descended from another planet.
"Aap kaun ho, Devi? Meri behen ya lawyer behen?" Bhaiyu asked, and I chuckled at his dramatic ass.
(Who are you, goddess ?My sister or my lawyer sister?”)
“Sister of Avinash Vashisht and just a small lawyer,” I said with a proud smile. The other three chuckled. After a few more words, I bid them goodbye and headed back to my room for some rest.
Adhvait's POV
“Ye kaun sa pataka tha,” I muttered, still in awe of her professional avatar.
(Who was that firecracker?")
“Pata nahi, mujhe toh laga meri behen ki body mein koi aur atma aa gayi hai,” Avinash said.
(I don’t know, I felt like some other soul had entered my sister’s body.)
“Jo bhi tha, bohot hot tha. Nahi, Adi,” Di added, and I nodded subconsciously.
(Whatever it was, it was very hot. Right, Adi?”)
“Total turn on tha,” I said, my eyes drifting toward the staircase she had just disappeared behind.
(It was a total turn on)
“That's my sister you’re talking about, you asshole," Avinash said, throwing a butter knife at me.
"And that’s my sister you married, you ass—whose mouth you were hogging the moment you got her," I shot back, tossing the knife right back at him.
"Whatever. Now tell me, what’s going to happen to our plan? My assistant told me there’s a one-month waiting period to book an appointment with her," he said.
"Whoa, I’m damn proud of Sunu," Di said, and the two of us nodded in agreement.
"What else can you expect from a famous international and national lawyer?" I said with a smile.
"She worked her ass off for this. I’m sure our good-for-nothing parents have no idea about the successful career our baby sister has built," Avinash said, his eyes shining with pride.
“As they should be," I said, feeling like a proud husband ready to puff up his chest like a gorilla and growl with pride.
"I also heard that Mom is trying to get an appointment with Sunu for her company’s legal matters with models," Avinash added. I smirked.
Mother-in-law, you better be ready to throw your attitude down the drain—or my love will do it for you.
“Let’s see what we can do. Let Devesh get back, and we’ll coordinate," I said, standing up. He nodded.
"I’m off now. Take care, hmm," I said, side-hugging Di. She smiled and hugged me back.
“Take care of my sister, you ass, or I’ll shove your ass up your mouth," I said, side-hugging Avinash. He just scoffed.
"Fuck off," he replied. I rolled my eyes, waved at my sister one last time, and headed to my office.
